Beginners' - start cooking from scratch

Saturday 9th March 2019

Students’ “basic cooking for a healthy and affordable diet”. For 18 – 21 year olds who are leaving for university or just to live by themselves… Or, for someone who is really not confident at all in the kitchen.  This course covers the basics to eat an easy, affordable and healthy diet.

The Menu

3 meals from mirpoix (onion, carrot & celery) with minced meat or vegetables.  Examples are bolognese and chilli.

How to get 8 meals from a chicken

Egg dishes – omelettes to scrambled and tortillas

Skills you will learn

Alongside some basic knife & cooking skills, you will get tips on where and how to shop for good quality ingredients at affordable prices, and how to cook and store food safely.

How to shop locally and with the seasons, and still have an affordable and tasty dinner every day of the week.  These courses cover two months’ seasonal ingredients, so future dates will be fo March/April, May/June and so on…..
